19th century Danish desk, crafted in oak with dramatic hand carved details throughout. Four carved angels or putti form the substantial supports or legs beneath the desk, resting on a heavy trestle base and giving the piece a strong sculptural presence.
Carved details border the desktop and continue along the skirt. Three functional drawers provide storage and open using the included keys as pulls only. Designed as a freestanding desk, decorative carving continues around the back, allowing the piece to present beautifully from multiple angles, though the drawers are located on one side only. The desktop shows typical scratches and gouges from years of use(which may be difficult to identify in photos as they blend visually into the wood grain). Additional age related scratches, small cracks, nicks, and wear are visible throughout, along with separation at some construction joints. These signs of age do not impact function. Floor to skirt height measures approximately 23 1/4 inches.
Restored, strong, stable, and ready to use.
