Hungarian two-door armoire dated 1831, crafted in pine with a remarkable original hand-painted folk art finish. Blue and teal blue dominate the background, while carved panels feature cream-colored fields with blue vases filled with red, yellow, and blue flowers. These colors continue along the canted sides, creating a richly decorative surface throughout the cabinet.

Heavy carved dentil molding and additional carved details resembling hanging tassels or garland accent the upper section. The date 1831 is clearly visible near the top, while a faint residual marking nearby appears to read 1718. This earlier marking may indicate that the armoire was handed down through generations, consistent with the tradition of using decorated armoires as wedding pieces (hence the added later date). A name and additional writing are also visible along the upper center.

The two doors open to reveal two interior shelves. Cutouts within the interior and holes along the back suggest that the cabinet likely had a different interior configuration at an earlier point in time. A newer interior metal latch now secures the left door, while the old lock and key remain functional on the right door.

Nicks and cracks are visible along the feet, which appear to have been painted over at a later point. Residual signs of old wormhole activity are present along the interior doors but are dry and inactive. The back shows age related separation, cracks, staining, and other signs of use. Additional cracks, nicks, and separation are visible throughout but do not impact function.

Restored, stable, and ready to use.
