The lovely roses, tulips and even lilly of the valley are exquisite on this original black painted Swedish scutching knife with red trim. In addition, note the date of June 17, 1918 (seen as 17/6 between the monogram & over the year 1918). This Swedish hand-carved farm tool was used during the flax harvest season, but the hand-painted details raised it from a tool to a decoration as well, showing off the individual's craftsmanship and personal style.  Each one is unique, but this one is extra fine due to the exceptional hand-painted details.  Please examine the photos to appreciate details as well as areas of use, wear and distress expected in an item over 100 years old.
