This large and wonderfully executed painting portrays the bucolic scene of a farm boy leading a calf to water with sheep behind. The painting is just under 5' tall measured at the outside of the heavily carved gold gilt frame. The signed monogram of A. Mackeprang  (b. Langesø near Odense, Denmark 1833, d. Frederiksberg 1911) is seen in the lower right corner. Age related cracqueleur, minor defects/loss to the frame especially top left and lower right corners. This impressive and delightful painting is in very good condition for its age and will be a hadsome addition to ones home collection.
