The graceful curves of this tall grandfather clock are what define the famous Mora clocks of Sweden. The impressive date of 1786 is clearly visible on the longcase while the original pale green paint (almost teal) and red trim has gently faded through the years.. Attempts to replicate this finish never achieve the true patina of an aged antique such as this remarkable clock. Carved diamonds, star, finials and turned columns provide beautiful accents. Small wood pegs hold the two doors in place. When this clock was crafted in the 1700’s, three professionals were commissioned to complete the work; a carpenter, painter, and clock maker. Take a close look at the original clock face which is flanked by two lions. This Mora grandfather clock is in solid/stable condition. The original clocks works are included but do not function. Please examine the close-up photos to appreciate the Swedish styling and details of the clock, including the original painted finish.
