Hand painted grandfather clock with exceptional original soft blue painted finish accented in red trim.
Panel details, curved bonnet, slender case with lovely balance to face and base are all highlights of this wonderful original find.
Monogram of MMS and date of 1844 indicate it may have been a wedding or anniversary present.
The small rounded iron loops added to sides originally served to secure clock to wall in order for old clock works to run efficiently.
Original clock face, hands and pendulum included. Clock works do not function.
Unusual to this clock is the lower section has a small "door" as well (not seen in photos).
Wood longcase is restored, strong and stable. Any cracks, nicks, separation, scratches etc. are reflective of generations of use and do not impact function.
Sweden, dated 1844
