The highly decorative original painted finish is captivating in this rococo country cabinet from Jämtland in northern Sweden.
The cabinet is dated 1806 and combine woodworking craftsmanship with elaborate painted details in earthen tones against a blue/green background executed by a second craftsman. Both professionals were commisioned to create this traditional wedding cabinet for a couple starting their married life together in the early 1800's.
The two narrow drawers open to reveal sectioned storage within, while the lower door drops open on old style hinges to reveal an additional storage compartment.
The arched doors and bonnet of the upper section and tall feet are style features of this traditional rococo cabinet cupboard.
Restored and waxed, this remarkable hand-painted cabinet is ready to be used and enjoyed. Key included but lock no longer works.
Any scratches, cracks, dings, nicks, or age related separation are reflective of age and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this lovely piece.
