The vibrant colors are all original on this large painted chest of two drawers or "blanket chest."
The floral embellishments and faux wood background  were traditional Folk Art elements during the 1800s.
The whimsical flowers and bright colors create a cheerful feel in many Eastern European furniture pieces of the period including this heavy pine blanket chest with carved column side details.
This chest of drawers has been restored, the wax finish inside and out adds a soft luster to the piece, and the drawers function.
The scratches, cracks, dings, and age related separation(see sides) are reflective of age and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this blanket chest.
