The paint is all original on this delightful flat top trunk from Austria.
The flowers in vases are depicted in the front panels, which was a popular folk art design throughout the 1800's.
The trunk is dated 1804 on the center front and rests on painted bun feet. 
Note photo of interior that reveals a lidded compartment that was used to store small personal items and a narrow shelf along the back.
Restored, strong and stable, this trunk is ready to be used and enjoyed. Old lock still functions, one key included. 
The entire blanket chest has been given a waxed finish, bringing a soft luster to the aged pine.
