This exceptional Gustavian bench is a special find. Note the original pale gray painted finish (with blue undertones) with decorative finials and carved bow in teal blue/green. The finials, feet, and decorative carved details of the back are all original.
This bench was originally designed to serve as a type of spare bed; note the seat is removable vs. hinged. The bench seat was originally painted a shade of brick red/brown. The painted finish is now worn down to the pine below as a result of generations of use leaving a warm, aged patina.
Restored, strong and functional this bench is ready to be used and enjoyed. 
All scratches, cracks, dings, stains or age related separation (especially bench seat and back) are reflective of age and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this lovely bench with storage.
