Original blue painted dome top oak trunk from Sweden with traditional hand-painted details include floral motif along top and front. This is an exceptional example of Swedish folk art paint; please examine to appreciate the fine details and flourishes. Painted finish shows distress, wear and fading through generations of use, in particular the top.
Monogram on left and date "1820" on right indicate this trunk may have been crafted to give as a dowry or wedding present.
Wrought iron side handles and long hinges, no lock.
Restored and waxed, this heavy trunk is ready to be placed and enjoyed.
Signs of wear typical for age include nicks, scratches, cracks, age related separation of wood (see interior bottom and top), etc. This wear does not impact the strength nor functional integrity of the trunk which is ready for use.
