Small Red Chinese Console Sideboard, circa 1880

The red lacquered polished finish with contrasting black top on this small Chinese sideboard provides a modern look allowing it to serve well in a contemporary setting.
The original red painted finish was worn down throughout to reveal the natural elmwood below, creating great dimension and character. The lacquer finish is well buffed, which allows one to run fingers along the smooth finish.
Note photos of top which reveal the "floating panel" top designed to allow for contraction and expansion from humidity. There is an old crack that does not detract from the beauty of this 4' wide console.
Restored, strong and stable; ready to be placed and enjoyed. A traditional pin holds the central cabinet doors in place. The flanking left and right doors simply rest in place and open using a simple metal ring/pull. One interior shelf.
While there are typical age-related scratches, scuffs, etc. they do not detract from the beauty nor function of this special find.
Please refer to professional photos for clear understanding of color, condition, and details; photo lighting, individual monitor display and home lighting all impact how item is viewed.
