Impressive 4' tall portrait of a scholar, possibly Jan Cornelisz Sylvius by artist Franz Josef Blaschke.
Signed Blaschke and dated 1952. After a portrait by the workshop of Rembrandt. Said painting is located in the Walraff-Richartz-Museum in Cologne.
Condition: The canvas is relined. A few minor peelings and retouches. Crackles of various sizes.
Franz Josef Blaschke ( 1916 - 1984 ) was a German painter.
All scratches, cracks, dings, or age related separation to frame are reflective of age.
