19th Century Swedish Blue Side Table with Stone Top

19th century Swedish side table with stone top, crafted in pine. The blue painted finish of the base is lightly scraped and distressed, revealing aged character that suits the small table well. Lovely turned and fluted legs support the form, while the skirt is embellished on each side with carved floral medallions and a scalloped edge. The square black stone top is especially distinctive and is noted as coming from an island on the eastern side of Sweden. The stone shows visible matrix along with typical scratches, nicks and scuffs from years of use. Minor cracks, scratches, scuffs, nicks, and dings are all reflective of generations of use. A beautiful and unusual square side table, restored, stable and ready for use.
